People driving through Castlemartyr often ask “Is that
Pat Shortt’s bar?”.Well the answer is yes, and in the last
few months Pat has taken a very personal and “hands
on” interest in his pub. Recent visitors have noticed a
different buzz and vibe about the place.

A major change made by Pat recently was the appointment
of Eric Lye as Chef/Manager of the business. Eric
has a long and distinguished career as a chef, having
worked in Paris, London and more recently running his
own restaurant in Bruff, Co. Limerick. Having made his
restaurant one of the most successful in the county, Eric
sold the business and intended taking a long holiday……
but Pat persuaded him to come and work his
wonders in Castlemartyr. Eric aims to provide fresh, locally
sourced dishes, lovingly prepared with the finest
ingredients; the menu is now available seven days a
week. Cheer yourself up and come and enjoy a superb
Sunday Lunch.

Pat is currently in the middle of a sell out tour of his latest
show “In the Hall”. Although known by many for his
TV hit show “Killinascully”, Pat has a distinguished acting
CV. An actor of note, Pat has appeared with Druid
Theatre Company in their production of Martin Mc-
Donagh’s The Lonesome West. Movie title’s include
Angela Mooney Dies Again (with Mia Farrow), This Is
My Father (with Brendan Gleeson, Aidan Quinn,
Stephen Rae and James Caan) ,The Closer It Gets (with
Ian Harte, Niamh Cusack and Sean McGinley) and in
Man About Dog written by Belfast-born Pearse Eliot.
